About Billy Smith

Billy Smith is an American born songwriter and all around Consummate musician who’s goal in life musically, is to spread the word about American roots music. Billy’s career has produced six full length C.D.s including Mississippi River Boat, Belly of the Beast and most recently Welcome to Akron. Billy’s music takes you on a voyage to the Legendary regions that have spurned the Delta Blues, Bluegrass, Backwoods Country, Folk, Zydeco and Gospel. Being a multi-Instrumentalist playing the guitar, mandolin, banjo and most stringed Instruments permits him to experiment in the truest forms of the music Mentioned. Spending time performing in Nashville, Savannah, Montreal and all points between also supporting Country icon, David Allen Coe, British keyboard great, Brian Auger, to theater Rock originals, The Tubes, his music and performances seem to cross over to diverse Audiences everywhere.

Being a career musician myself in the studio and on the road, as a Member of The Chambers Brothers, The Outlaws, The Godz and also Performing on over sixty records as a session guitarist, I started Learning the guitar by listening to B.B. King, Muddy Waters and a slew of other greats. I am constantly on the search for performers that feed my need for the music that I learned to play. I was also retained as a Session guitarist on Billy’s last two C.D.s and the experience was enjoyable and fulfilling for me as a player. 

Roots music is the heartbeat of the entire world and Billy plays it.
